A Columbus, Ohio man is facing charges after he took off from police during a traffic checkpoint in Pike County. Troopers with Kentucky State Police stopped Thomas Jervis, 38, at a checkpoint near the intersection of KY-1056 and Peter Fork Road. When troopers asked Jervis to pull over to the side, they said he took off at a high rate of speed and left the scene. Jervis was arrested after officers found him hiding under a camper. Jervis was charged with no registration receipt, no registration plates, improper display of registration plates, failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seat belts, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, no operators-moped license and operating on a suspended or revoked operating license. Jervis was taken to the Pike County Detention Center.
