2022 FLOOD RECOVERY

Beginning Monday, Eastern Kentucky local governments and other entities that were impacted by the 2022 floods can apply for funding from a massive pool of money set aside for aiding the recovery. The Kentucky Department for Local Government will accept applications from local government, nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses can apply for a share of the $298 million pool. The money will be used on projects addressing housing, infrastructure, economic development and resiliency planning. Under the terms of the program, 80 percent of the money will be spent in the five most heavily affected counties — Breathitt, Letcher, Knott, Perry and Pike. The remaining 20 percent will be spent in 15 other counties — Floyd, Johnson, Martin, Magoffin, Casey, Clay, Cumberland, Harlan, Lee, Leslie, Lincoln, Owsley, Powell, Whitley and Wolfe.
