During its regular meeting on April 1, the Paintsville Utilities Commission voted to recommend entering into a “performance contract” with a third party to see major overhauls to its metering system and the detection and repair of a substantial number of leaks to eliminate wasted water throughout its system. The measure would see a guaranteed reduction of more than 10 percent in “non-revenue” water (water that leaves pump stations and plants but never makes it through customer meters) throughout the system, which commission members and Integrity Water and Energy Account Executive Brandon Marcum said would make the system more efficient and provide many benefits to customers and the company itself.
