On Thursday, Kentucky State Police (KSP) and Perry County Sheriff’s Office (PSCO) responded to a call of a body near KY-476 in Ary. In the initial investigation, deputies determined the man was dead from what deputies believe is a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Perry County Coroner’s Office pronounced Samuel Smith, 19, of Hazard as a result of the gunshot wound. Sheriff Joe Engle said the incident is unrelated to the recent murder of another man named Samuel Smith in the area. PCSO is investigating the incident.
