FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS EMPLOEE ARRAIGNED

A Floyd County Schools District employee was arraigned in Floyd County Circuit Court on Thursday, April 18 on charges of rape and sodomy. 67-year-old John Martin, of Right Fork of Stumbo Hollow at Drift, was a teacher but was reassigned to another position after an investigation began, and he’s pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

Circuit Court Judge Johnnie Ray Harris set an informal pretrial date of Thursday, Aug. 8 and formal pretrial date of Sept. 5. Judge Harris has ordered that Martin have no contact with the alleged victim in this case, and at the request of the prosecution, no contact with any of the alleged victim’s extended family.
