A Johnson County man was in Floyd County Circuit Court April 23 for a bond reduction hearing in a vehicular homicide case. Floyd Circuit Court Judge Johnny Ray Harris said a judgment on bond would be made later this week after he took the testimony in court into consideration.

Marcus Logan Auxier, 21, of Nippa, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol stemming from a July 2023 single-vehicle crash that took the lives of Kendra Moreno and Makeena Barnett. Auxier’s attorney Terry Jacobs requested the $1 million bond in the case be lowered to $100,000 cash or 10 percent bond with home incarceration.

The lead detective on the case, KSP Det. Joshua Scott, was brought in by the commonwealth to testify on the particulars of the case. Scott said they located Auxier nine hours after the initial call reporting the crash. He said Auxier had left the scene of the collision by going up a hillside where a family member later led KSP to his location.
