An employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation Driver Licensing Office in Prestonsburg has been charged with fraud. Police arrested Brittany Dingus, 30, of Johnson County, after finding in an investigation that she obtained personal debit card information from three people.
Police said Dingus used those cards and another person’s email address to make online purchases. Dingus was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Detention Center on May 3. She is charged with fraudulent use of a credit card ($500-$1,000), attempted fraudulent use of a credit card after it was reported stolen and first degree unlawful access to a computer.
A Pike County woman now plans to plead guilty in her federal drug case, after reaching a deal with prosecutors. Sasha Adkins-Sword, 36, of Jonancy, is currently charged possession of meth and fentanyl with the intent to distribute and felon in possession of a firearm. ourt records do not specify the terms of her plea agreement. A judge has scheduled a hearing Friday for her to enter her plea.
A California man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, after pleading guilty to federal charges related to a fentanyl distribution conspiracy in southwestern Virginia. Roberto Contreras, 24, of Buena Park, California, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possessing a firearm in a drug trafficking crime. When police raided his home in March of last year, they seized more than 1,600 fentanyl pills, along with 7,000 Xanax pills, 3,000 Adderall pills, 242 grams of cocaine, more than $31,000 in cash and five guns.
A Johnson county man’s bond reduction request has been approved by Circuit Court Judge Johnny Ray Harris. Marcus Logan Auxier, 21, of Nippa, was in court on April 23 for a hearing on his request for a reduction in bond. Harris said he would make a decision on bond in the coming week,
According to an order filed by Harris April 26, “the bond is hereby amended to one-hundred-thousand cash ($100,000) or property with strict home incarceration through CDS monitoring.”
The original bond in the case was set as $1 million cash.
Police arrested a man from Tomahawk on a felony drug charge, alleging he possessed methamphetamine. Fred Thomas Daniels, 31, was taken into custody at 7:21 p.m. Saturday on Old U.S. 23 in Paintsville by Trooper Trevor Spurlock of the Kentucky State Police Post 9.
Daniels faces charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance — identified as methamphetamine — along with possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic-related offenses.
