A Prestonsburg man is facing a long list of charges, including drug trafficking and evidence tampering, following a traffic stop early Thursday morning. A Floyd County deputy spotted an SUV at a home that had been the subject of numerous complaints about drug trafficking, then saw it leave and turn onto Route 80. The deputy pulled the car over and the driver, identified as Travis Michael Hall, 42, couldn’t produce proof of registration or insurance. The officer began writing him a ticket, while K9 Bear was brought in to sniff around the vehicle, which produced a hit. The deputy began examining the car, but saw that Hall kept fidgeting while standing outside. After the officer found a set of scales and a syringe in the car, he went back to talk to Hall, when he spotted a package on the ground which hadn’t been there earlier. Inside the package were a bag of meth and a loose meth rock, as well as a debit card for a man who had been arrested at the drug house several days earlier. Hall was arrested and charged with meth trafficking, evidence tampering, DUI and several traffic violations. He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

Three people were arrested after a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon near Shelbiana in Pike County Kentucky. A state trooper pulled over a GMC Sierra for what he said in his report were several traffic violations. When he spoke to the driver, identified as 50-year-old Clarence Kilgore, Ashcamp, he saw the Kilgore appeared to be under the influence of something. After showing signs of impairment during a field sobriety test, Kilgore was arrested and the officer searched the vehicle, finding more than 2 grams of heroin, a small amount of meth, more than $4,000 in cash, and several types of drug paraphernalia. Neither Kilgore nor the two other occupants of the car, identified as 39-year-old Brooke Scroggins, of Elkhorn City, and Anthony Coleman, 35, of Lookout, would claim ownership of the drugs, so all three were arrested for heroin trafficking, meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kilgore was also charged with DUI and numerous traffic violations.
