James Albert Williamson of Inez, KY, 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. He was born on February 7, 1946, in Breeden, West Virginia. He was a son of the late Garland and Lona Marcum Williamson. James is preceded in death by his siblings, Garland Jr., Glen Ray Williamson, Roy Williamson, and Juanita Lee Evans. He was a retired truck driver where he spent 40 years driving freight state to state. He served in the army where he was part of the intelligence division, being put behind enemy lines to gather intel used in winning the Vietnam War. James enjoyed riding his boat on the lake, fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He loved traveling and was always up for a trip. James loved spending time with family and friends and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.

James is survived by his son, James Allen (Denise) Williamson of Kermit, WV, grandchildren; Zachary Tyler (Lakyn) Williamson of Stone Coal, WV, Tyra Paige (Garrett) Brown of South Williamson, KY as well as great grandchildren, Edda Grace Williamson, Dax Tyler Williamson, Billie Kate Williamson and Josie Faye Brown. James is also survived by brother, Billy Williamson of Florida and sister, Helen Perry of Jennies Creek, WV as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be after 5pm Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the House of Prayer Church of Dingess, WV, with funeral services being conducted Monday, June 17, 2024, at 12:00pm with Matt Williamson officiating. A burial will follow in the Williamson Cemetery on Kelly Hill Road, Wilsondale, WV. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of James A. Wiliamson.

 

 

Obituary for Alma Ruth (Sisco) Patrick

Alma passed peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, only a few days
after her 94th birthday on May 30th . She was born in 1930 in Mingo County, West Virginia, a
county she lived in much of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over
50 years, William “Bill” Patrick, a WWII Navy veteran. After graduating from Chattaroy High
School, Alma married Bill in 1948. They resided in Kermit, WV and raised two children who
survive Alma, daughter Linda Patrick, and son W. Charles Patrick (wife Martha). Alma is also
survived by three grandchildren Kyle, Evan, and Anne, and two great-grandchildren Jessica and
Levi.
Alma’s father and mother were Marion Sisco and Mary Stepp, both deceased. Alma was one of
nine children raised in Borderland, KY and Chattaroy, WV. Alma was preceded in death by
siblings Irene, Bobby, Bud, Louise, Faye, and Bonnie. She is survived by two siblings Agnes
Gail (Midge) and Mary Ann.
Alma was the Registrar for Southern West Virginia Community College in Williamson, WV for
over two decades after working as a registration receptionist for the Appalachian Regional
Hospital, also in Willamson. She and her family were active members of the Freewill Baptist
Church in Kermit, WV where she and her husband Bill were both in the church choir. Alma was
also active in the community in Girl Scouts and Women’s Club.
A graveside service is scheduled for Alma in the Warfield (KY) Cemetery near Kermit, WV on
Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 11:00am with Bobby Mullins speaking words of comfort. Care is
entrusted to the Mullins Family Funeral Home,
Warfield, KY.

 

 

 

Carla Mae Barnett Blackburn, age 86, of Prestonsburg, KY, widow of Jerry Lee Blackburn, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at her residence. She was born December 13, 1937 in Martin, KY a daughter of the late Quince and Raney Calhoun Barnett. Carla was a former waitress at Jerry’s Restaurant and member of the Pleasant Home Baptist Church, Prestonsburg, KY. She is survived by two sisters, Bessie (Herb) Dingus and Juanita Barnett (Oscar) Rice, all of Martin, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Dean Conn, two brothers; Cledith and Willard “Bub” Barnett, and one sister; Donna J. Turner. Funeral service for Carla Mae Barnett Blackburn will be conducted Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2 PM in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Dr. Mark Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery, Martin. Visitation is from 10 AM until 2 PM Saturday at Hall Funeral Home.

 

 

 

 

Della “Brooke” Castle, born at Paul B. Hall Hospital on October 07, 1989, and is survived by her father, Robert Castle, and mother, Vicky Kise, as well as three sisters, Kimberly Castle, Madelyn “Gracie” Johnson, and Zoe Castle. She is preceded in death by her stepfather, Jeff Johnson.

Brooke was known for her kindness and compassion as shown through her final decision of organ donation. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. A Graveside service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Castle Family Cemetery at Nippa with Jimmy Vanhoose officiating. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Friday and after 12:30pm Saturday at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Johnson County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1313, Paintsville, Kentucky (johnsoncountyanimalshelter.org).
