A lot of friends and family came out to pay their respects and show love to two young men who tragically and needlessly lost their lives in a shooting last week on an abandoned strip mine in Perry County. 18-year-old Anthony Stidham was known as Crow to a lot of his friends and family and family friend Brandon Marlow saif they were both just way too young. 20-year-old Braxton Marlowe’s mom Jessica Spicer talked about just how ridiculously senseless this was.  She’s a woman that even in the middle of grief and loss, won’t stop, until her son’s death will result in change to help others. Two people have been arrested for this, a nineteen-year-old identified as Emmaleigh Collins and a 20-year-old named Treston Combs who are currently parked in Kentucky River Regional Jail. It’s said he is charged with murder, attempted murder and wanton endangerment, and Collins is looking at murder complicity charges.

A man was arrested on a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine during a Floyd County Sheriff’s deputy’s patrol. Deputy Alan May arrested 42-year-old Randall Miner who was the subject of several tips on drug trafficking activity. May obtained permission to search the residence. During the subsequent search, the citation said, Miner was found hiding in a bedroom closet under a large amount of clothes. Once Miner was arrested, the citation said, May found two separate baggies on Miner’s person which contained a total of 5 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Miner was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

You can run, but you’ll just go to jail tired. Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Allen May recently proved that, again. On July 1, May saw a man named Justin D. Caudill, 42, of Stampers Branch Road driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The problem is, Caudill had a suspended license and accelerated to a high rate of speed once the deputy pulled out.  We’re told Caudill showed no regard to the deputy’s emergency equipment and continued at a high rate of speed on Ky. 1086 until he drove onto an ATV trail. Once on the ATV trail, May wrote, he heard the truck come to a stop and shut off. When Kentucky State Police Trooper Derek Coleman showed up to assist, May wrote, he deployed K9 Bear to track Caudill. May wrote Caudill didn’t answer warnings about the dog, and Bear ultimately found and apprehended Caudill with a bite to the left forearm. Caudill was cited on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methampehtamine), driving on a suspended license and traffic charges. He was released to receive medical treatment.

The Kent Rose Foundation, Lou’s Place for Pets and Odd Fellows Lodge #293 are accepting donations to provide a free day at Archer Park Pool for families in the community. “Archer Park has agreed to give us a pool day at a fixed price,” said Maynard. “This would be an open pool day to local kids who aren’t fortunate enough to hit up Disney World or Dollywood.” Anyone who wants to donate directly to the event can do so at Lou’s Place for Pets and at The Mountain Muse.
