PIKEVILLE, KY – An Ohio woman who ran a Pikeville cheerleading academy was sentenced after pleading guilty to theft charges. Prosecutors say 36-year-old Lindsey Paige Burke took money from families for training and uniforms but failed to deliver. She received five years’ probation, must pay $10,500 in restitution, serve 24 hours in jail, and spend 30 days on home incarceration. A judge also barred her from coaching children during probation.
WILLIAMSON, WV – Six people were arrested after state and federal investigators broke up an alleged fentanyl ring at a Vinson Street home in Williamson. The two-month investigation led to multiple arrests on October 3 and 5, and the seizure of large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and several loaded firearms. Authorities say Justin Jerome Grimmett coordinated sales with the help of local associates. All six now face major drug and firearm charges after detectives uncovered several drug transactions at the residence.
INEZ, KY – A Warfield man has been sentenced to 17 years in state prison for violent crimes across Martin and Lawrence counties. Prosecutors say Jimmy Dale Maynard, 45, was convicted of assault, strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, drug trafficking, and assaulting a police officer. The charges stem from a 2024 domestic violence case in which Maynard choked and beat a woman, and a later incident where he tore a deputy’s earlobe during an arrest. Prosecutors say the sentence ensures accountability for his violent criminal history.
JOHNSON COUNTY, KY – A jury trial date has been set for Henry Ritscher of Johnson County, who’s facing federal charges in a video voyeurism case. The incident reportedly came to light in September, after the victim discovered footage on Ritscher’s phone and contacted police. The trial is scheduled for January 12th in Ashland, with a pretrial conference set for January 8th.
