BOYD COUNTY, KY – Ashland Police are investigating a Monday night shooting near the riverfront park that left a man injured. Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at Port of Ashland Riverfront Park just before 8 p.m., where a man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital for treatment. Police say the woman involved fled but later came to the police station to discuss the incident. The case will be reviewed by the Boyd County Commonwealth Office, and police say it was an isolated incident.

 

FLOYD COUNTY, KY -A Floyd County couple was arrested for child endangerment after Prestonsburg Police found unsafe conditions at their South Cardinal Drive residence. Officers reported trash, rotting food, and debris everywhere, with hardly a safe path to walk inside the home. Police said the living space was not fit for a child, or even an animal in their opinion. Phillip M. Holbrook, 46, and Morgan A. Maynard, 36, now face charges after this welfare check.

 

FLOYD COUNTY, KY – A Garrett man has been sentenced to nine years and four months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Forty‑six‑year‑old Justin Slone pleaded guilty in July after authorities found multiple guns, silencers, ammunition, and over 42 grams of methamphetamine at his home. Other drug‑related charges were dismissed as part of his plea deal. U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell handed down the 112‑month sentence in federal court on Tuesday.

 

PRESTONSBURG, KY – A Pike County man has been arrested after a home invasion in Prestonsburg. Police say 42-year-old Daniel Meade of Pikeville was found inside a Town Branch home late Monday night while a woman and her three children were inside. The homeowner returned and restrained Meade until officers arrived. Drawers and cabinets had been opened, and items pulled from the walls. Meade is charged with second-degree burglary and held on a ten-thousand-dollar cash bond.
