JOHNSON COUNTY, KY – A Johnson County man faces DUI and wanton endangerment charges after a two-vehicle crash on Kentucky 1428 Monday. Deputies say Phillip Brent Murray was intoxicated when his car crossed lanes and collided head-on. A witness told police the other driver tried to swerve. Two empty alcohol containers were found at the scene, and the other driver was taken to Paintsville ARH with facial injuries. Murray, who has a prior DUI arrest, was booked into Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

 

MARTIN COUNTY, KY – A Martin County man is facing multiple charges after a disturbance in Inez. Deputies say 45-year-old Robert Whitt of Adams, was arrested around one a.m. October first at Horn’s BP in Inez after reports of a man jumping into traffic. During the stop, officers found suspected fentanyl and said Whitt became loud and combative. Court officials say he’ll appear for arraignment November sixth before Judge Kevin Holbrook.

 

COAL RUN, KY – Governor Andy Beshear has announced nearly six million dollars to rebuild the Weddington Shopping Center in Coal Run, heavily damaged by Pike County flooding earlier this year. The project will help retain up to three hundred local jobs and restore a key part of the community’s economy. About one million in repairs is already complete, with half the plaza expected to reopen within a year. Officials say the investment shows Eastern Kentucky’s resilience and teamwork in recovery.

The plan will guide local development through 2030, focusing on jobs, housing, and infrastructure.
