Pikeville Ky, – Pikeville Police say one man is facing charges after leaving the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Baird Avenue Wednesday. Officers say they could not find William Cummins at first, but a witness’ description helped them track him down walking on Harold’s Branch. Cummins allegedly told police he ran because he is in drug court and has a DUI-suspended license. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid or assistance, and driving on a DUI-suspended license, first offense.

 

Magoffin County, Ky – A trial date is set for a Magoffin County man charged in a federal drug and gun case. Prosecutors say Matthew Owens was indicted earlier this year for possessing at least 50 grams of substances containing meth and fentanyl, along with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His trial is scheduled for February 19 in federal court in Ashland.

 

Pike County, Ky – A Pike County man spent his holiday in jail after a late‑night drug trafficking arrest. State Police say just before midnight Tuesday, a trooper stopped a pickup on Forest Hills Road for a broken taillight and a loosely secured ATV, in front of a home known for drug activity. The driver, 25‑year‑old Austin Cecil of Sidney, had digital scales, meth in the seat, and fentanyl hidden in his underwear. Cecil faces enhanced trafficking, paraphernalia, DUI and other charges, and remains in jail awaiting arraignment Monday.

 

Floyd County, Ky – Floyd County is continuing to bring in federal money for February flood repairs, with FEMA payments to the fiscal court now totaling just over 415 thousand dollars. Treasurer Vicki Spencer reported about 42 thousand 800 dollars came in this month, while officials say roughly 3 and a half million have been obligated to the county. Road and infrastructure work is also moving ahead, including ongoing upgrades to more than eleven hundred mapped fire hydrants, along with budget, donation and equipment moves approved at the latest fiscal court meeting.
