Bell County, Ky – Two people are facing charges after investigators say a Bell County EMS payroll check was stolen and cashed. Deputies say 24‑year‑old EMT Emily Rayne Long was arrested February 13, accused of stealing a payroll check worth just over one‑thousand one‑hundred dollars on January 30. Long is charged with theft by unlawful taking. Investigators say 23‑year‑old Caleb Chase Day then cashed the stolen check at a gas station in Harlan. When officers went to serve a warrant, they said Day ran, jumped a fence, and was caught a short time later. He is charged with fleeing or evading police, theft by deception, and possession of a forged instrument. The investigation is ongoing.

.Elkhorn, Ky – An Elkhorn City man is facing drug trafficking and DUI charges after a traffic stop on Ferrells Creek Road.​ State Police say Trooper Christopher Tyree pulled over a Chevy Suburban driven by 45‑year‑old Lawrence Barnes after seeing it speeding and swerving, and noted Barnes appeared nervous, had no ID, and had active warrants.​ Troopers say Barnes admitted there was meth in the vehicle, and a search turned up a large bag believed to be meth, smaller bags believed to be cocaine, empty baggies, and two guns.​Barnes was taken to the Pike County Detention Center.

Perry County, Ky – Police say a traffic stop on Kentucky 80 led to meth and marijuana charges for two women from Eastern Kentucky.​ Deputies in Perry County pulled over a truck on February 13 for a cracked windshield and say they smelled marijuana as they walked up to the vehicle.​ Officers say they then found marijuana, suspected meth, a handgun, drug paraphernalia and a stolen license plate.​ The driver, 55‑year‑old Donita Everage of Carrie, and passenger, 54‑year‑old Angela Beverly of Langley, were arrested on drug and theft charges and taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Johnson County, Ky – An Ohio man faces DUI and felony assault charges after a two‑vehicle crash in Van Lear, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say 39‑year‑old David Allen Bowling of Columbus, Ohio, was involved in a wreck on Kentucky 302 on February 14, where the other driver reported leg and ankle injuries. A citation states Bowling first denied drinking, then admitted having “only drunk two,” and later blew a .202 on a breath test, more than twice Kentucky’s .08 legal limit. He was taken to Paintsville ARH for treatment and is charged with first‑offense DUI and second‑degree assault.
