A fatal collision occurred in Powell County Monday evening. At 7:29 p.m. September 26, Kentucky State Police 8 Morehead received information about a two vehicle collision at the 22 mile marker on the Mountain Parkway in Powell County. Trooper Michael Snowden responded to the scene, where it was determined Martricia Willis, 40 of Jackson, was traveling west on the Mountain Parkway when she struck a vehicle driven by Xylina Barnett, 28 of Clay City, also traveling westbound. Barnett’s passenger, James R. Gilliam, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. Willis and her passengers Gerry Willis, 42, of Booneville and two juvenile passengers were taken to Clark Regional for treatment, then later transported to UK Medical Center and listed in stable condition. Barnett was also taken to Clark Regional. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Snowden.
