Some residents of Paintsville have reported that they are being contacted by an automated message, telling them that they have a legal summons on the subject and request them to contact them back. The victim is asked to call a law firm at 888-308-5380. When the victim contacts them back, a representative tells them that they represent Credit One Bank, and they have an outstanding debt of $1,980 dollars. The scammer will then inform the victim that they are willing to settle the debt for $940, if they make the payment over the phone. The number that the scammers are using is 888-308-5380.
We would like to remind the public to be skeptical when asked to give money, or sensitive information over the phone. If there is a legal document, like a summons, on you then you will most likely be visited by a deputy or receive a call.
