Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse announced Tuesday an Elliot County woman has been sentenced on felony charges for Medicaid fraud. Ruby Fraley, 56, of Isonvolle, was convicted earlier this month in Elliot Circuit Court on two counts of Medicaid fraud, both Class D Felonies. She was sentenced to one year for each count to run concurrent, which was probated, and paid $1,640 in restitution. Fraley was employed to manage the services of Medicaid recipients who were enrolled in the Consumer Directed Options Program that allows qualifying Medicaid members to receive nonmedical services in their home. Fraudulent documents were submitted to the Kentucky Medicaid Program causing a loss to Medicaid of more than $1,600. The case was investigated by the Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, as well as the Cabinet for Health and Family Service’s Office of the Inspector General.
Beshear said “I take my role as Medicaid watchdog very seriously. Medicaid is a vital service that our state can afford and must support. My office is committed to protecting Kentucky families from anyone who would defraud such a critical program.”
