At 1:39am on Sunday, January 1, Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead received information from Elliot County Dispatch about a single vehicle collision that occurred on KY 556. Upon arrival it was determined Sam Sparks, 20, of West Liberty, was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier with one passenger, Braxton Bailey, 19, also of West Liberty. Mr. Sparks was traveling North on KY 556 when he lost control of his vehicle and continued traveling off the shoulder of the roadway, colliding with a tree, and overturning on an embankment. Mr. Sparks was transported to UK hospital in Lexington for further treatment. Mr. Bailey was transported to Morgan County ARH where he was treated and later released.
