Floyd County Schools Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb welcomes new Board of Education member William Newsome, Jr. Dr. Webb said Newsome brings experience to the board team as a retired teacher and coach. Newsome taught at Betsy Layne High School for over thirty years, coaching boys’ basketball for twenty-three years and baseball for fourteen years. He served as athletic director for Betsy Layne for six years, as well. Newsome will be sworn in officially on January 4, 2017 at 5:45pm at May Valley Elementary.
