Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies Gary Mehler and Travis Napier were dispatched to the Dollar Store on Keavy Road near London the afternoon of January 15, 2017 for a shoplifting incident. When deputies arrived they learned Melissa Fields, 48, allegedly took Tide detergent and a toilet bowl deodorizer because she didn’t have her debit card. Fields also had a warrant for failing to appear in court over a car accident and speeding, among other traffic violations. She was arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
