Floyd County Sheriff’s Office Makes Drug Arrests

On Wednesday, January 25th, Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt and deputies executed a search warrant which resulted in one deputy being sent to the hospital, two people being arrested, and the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and money. The search was conducted at a residence in the Burchett Trailer Court located on RT 321. During the search, deputies, along with K-9 Lita, discovered different types of illegal drugs including over 26 grams of crystal meth, 6 different types of prescription drugs individually bagged, suboxone and needles loaded with meth. Money was found hidden inside the wall of the residence, along with multiple cell phones and meth manufacturing pre-cursors. One deputy was overtaken by vapors and fumes from the chemicals used in the manufacturing of meth and had to be taken to Highlands Regional Medical Center, though was released after treatment. Randy Akers, 35, and Judith Marie Bailey, 34, were arrested and charged with multiple drug related charges. They were lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
