In the morning hours of Monday, February 13, 2017, Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville responded to a residence in the Trace Branch community of Magoffin County concerning a domestic assault complaint. Troopers arrived at the scene as Marcus Eugene Sparks, 30 of Trace Branch, fled on foot into a wooded area. Troopers at the scene were unable to locate him.
