Workers’ Compensation Reform Bill Passes Kentucky House

Legislation to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the workers’ comp system in Kentucky passed the House Wednesday, February 22, with a 58-40 vote. House Bill 296 seeks to modernize Kentucky’s workers’ compensation system by driving down employers’ cost, improving injured workers’ access to care, and returning injured workers to work more quickly. A friendly floor amendment was adopted to add a provision increasing the cap on injured workers benefits to up to 110%of weekly wages. HB 296 now heads to the Senate to be heard in Committee.
