Construction on a new state bridge in Johnson County should begin within the next several weeks at KY 1559. The bridge was closed on July 28, 2015, immediately after severe flooding damaged homes and property in Johnson County. Frederick & May of West Liberty were awarded the low-bid contract in the amount of $495,830.03 to build a new structure and demolish the old bridge. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will pay for the work up front, reimbursed by FEMA for 75% of the project.
