Johnson County Middle Student Wins College Scholarship at MathCounts

A total of 61 students competed in the Big Sandy MathCounts competition on February 18 at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, an increase of 15 students from last year. The event’s top scorer, Zoe Castle, is a 7th grader from Johnson County Middle. She won a full four-year scholarship to the University of Kentucky and a four-year $1,000 scholarship to Western Kentucky University. The top two teams and the top four students not on a winning team are eligible to advance to the state finals at Western Kentucky University on March 24 and 25.
