The Bell County Sheriff’s Department is reporting a phone scam in their area. Someone has been calling area citizens saying they are with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Bell County Dispatch, or Kentucky State Police. Some of the calls have been in regard to supposed warrants the caller claims victims have on record. At some point, the caller claims the victim can pay a fee to have the warrant removed. Another call claiming to be from KSP asks for donations to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. The sheriff’s department reminds citizens they will not make calls of this nature.
