On Saturday, April 1, Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an armed standoff situation in the Bimble community. Michael Sampson, age 43, had assaulted an individual and barricaded himself inside his home. Sheriff Mike Smith negotiated with the subject. Sampson was arrested with no injuries to the officers or himself. Sampson was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a handgun. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
