Hazard Police Arrest Woman for Debit Card Theft

On Saturday, April 1, Hazard Police requested assistance with identifying a woman who stole a debit card from the Citizens Lane Save-A-Lot. The victim forgot to remove her card from the chip reader at the register, which was then taken by 57-year-old Janet Couch, who used the card to pay for her own groceries. She exited the store with the card, and HPD received several tips identifying couch. She was arrested by Sergeant Zach Miller and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, tampering with physical evidence, and theft. Couch was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
