Floyd County students placed in the K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 divisions of the regional 2017 CEDAR Coal Fair Competition. Students from Duff and Prestonsburg Elementary and Allen Central High School placed at the event. Brody Hicks and Haidyn O’Bryan of Prestonsburg Elementary placed 1^st in English and Music, respectively, with Ethan Goble, also of Prestonsburg, placing 2^nd in Social Studies. Also in the k-4 Division, Sara Brown and Landon Samons from Duff Elementary placed 2^nd and 3^rd in Music and Math. In 5-8, Duff student Todd Prater placed 1^st in Technology/Multimedia, with Cody Clark 3^rd in English. In the 9-12 Division, Alexis Hall of Allen Central High School placed 2^nd in Art.
