KY Emergency Management Hosts Earthquake Planning Workshop

On Monday, April 10, Kentucky Emergency Management hosted a New Madrid Seismic Zone earthquake planning workshop, where officials discussed the threat posed to the Commonwealth as the result of a catastrophic seismic event. The workshop reviewed the current earthquake response plan, centering on the long-term recovery plan. KYEM Director Michael Dossett said it’s important to understand that long-term recovery efforts from a catastrophic earthquake are measured in years, rather than months. A national multi-region earthquake exercise was discussed for mid-year 2019.
