Two Arrested in Laurel County for Abuse of Child with Autism

On Friday, April 14, Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two individuals off West 10th St. in London while assisting social services with a follow-up of an alleged abuse complaint involving a seven-year-old non-speaking autistic child. During the investigation, detectives and deputies determined that the child had been struck several times causing severe bruising to his backside and arms by his step-father while his mother was present. Marijuana was also discovered at the location. Daniel Mason, 33, and Melissa Proffitt, 29, were arrested and charged with child abuse and drug possession.
