On Tuesday, April 18, the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Byrd Smith in the Cawood area that resulted from an ongoing investigation. Upon execution of the search warrant, over 10 grams of methamphetamine, over 18 grams of cocaine, along with paraphernalia and handguns were located. The street value of the drugs was estimated to be over $4,000. Byrd Smith, 34, Tabatha Smith, 31, and Justin Simpson, 31, were arrested and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
