Law Enforcement Agency Collaboration Keeps Peace at Pikeville Rally

Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies collaborated in an effort to keep events from escalating in the high temperatures on the streets of Pikeville on Saturday, April 29. While tensions were high and profanities were exchanged between anti-facist protesters and the Traditionalist Workers Party, the event was largely peaceful with only three arrests being made after the rally ended. Matthew Heimbach, leader of the Traditionalist Worker Party, was also served with a summons at the event to appear in Jefferson County District Court for a complaint of physical harassment. Heimbach allegedly forcibly removed an African American woman from a Trump rally in Louisville on March 1, 2016.
