5-Star Canadian recruit Jamal Murray has committed to the University of Kentucky as of Wednesday evening. Murray has also been considering offers from other schools and until tonight, Oregon was said to be his clear cut favorite. The 6’4, 195 pound guard is rated 12th in the scout.com prospect poll this season. He will join Isiah Briscoe and Tyler Ulis as five star recruits who have said they will come to Lexington. Kentucky missed out on on five star recruits Stephen Zimmerman (UNLV), Malik Newman (Mississippi State), Brandon Ingram (Duke), Cheick Diallo (Kansas), Jaylen Brown (California) and Caleb Swanigan (Purdue) earlier. Murray’s signing makes up for that with a strong presence. UK has been strong since John Calipari’s arrival, and Murray’s potential arrival adds to it. Murray would likely slide into the wing of the starting line-up, which would allow Alex Poythress to slide back into his normal role of power forward.
