Kentucky governor, Steve Beshear, has declared a state of emergency in the commonwealth in the wake of this week’s storms.

Beshear told the media that, “We will work with our local and federal partners to measure damage and make sure each community has access to appropriate resources.”

West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has expanded the state of the emergency to nine counties after Monday’s flash flooding.
