On Friday, September 22, the Department of Homeland Security notified 21 states which had been impacted by Russian interaction with their election systems in the 2016 election. Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes said DHS officials confirmed that Kentucky’s infrastructure was not targeting or compromised by Russians. Grimes said her office is vigilant against threats of any kind to election integrity, especially cyber threats. She added delivering elections that are secure and accurate is of the utmost priority.
