More than 150 students visited the Big Sandy Community and Technical College Mayo Campus for its Next Step Camp on October 20. Students in attendance for the camp represented five high schools spread across four nearby counties. The Next Step camp, made possible by the Project CASE (Creating Access to Successful Employment) grant, afforded students the opportunity to experience work in various fields of interest. Kelli Chaney, BSCTC dean of career education and workforce development, said the camp is very important because it gives students the opportunity to learn about different fields that they may enjoy working in. BSCTC programs such as respiratory therapy, nursing, masonry, auto body, and machining were on-site to engage with students.
