The Kentucky Historical Society announced recipients of grants from the Kentucky Local History Trust Fund on Tuesday. January 9, 2018. The Kentucky Local History Trust Fund is a funding pool that supports local history organizations’ efforts to preserve and tell Kentucky’s stories. Seventeen organizations from 16 Kentucky counties received grants totaling $22,217. Senator Johnny Ray Turner, representing the 29th Senate District that includes Floyd, Harlan, Knott, and Letcher counties, met with members of the Hindman Settlement School from Knott County, who were recognized during the Trust Fund Grant presentation at the Capitol in Frankfort. The Hindman Settlement School received $1500 for collections management. Local History Trust Fund money comes from Kentuckians who donate a portion of their state income tax refund.
