On Thursday, January 11, 2018, officers with the Ashland Police Department responded to King’s Daughters Medical Center Emergency Room to assist Child Protective Services in the investigation of a 14 month old child who was being treated for an opioid overdose. Narcan was administered and the child’s condition became stable. The mother, identified as 23-year-old Jocelyn Smith of Ashland, was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment. She was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
