A Knott County man has given his son the gift of life. Elmer and Melanie Portwood adopted their son Breven as a baby from Guatemala, but as he grew they discovered he had a form of kidney disease called Renal Dysplasia and would require a transplant. In a strike of luck Elmer was a match, and the kidney was successfully transplanted last Thursday at Cincinnati children’s hospital. Both doctors and family are pleased with the improvement in Breven’s health.
