Several eastern Kentucky school districts will be closed on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in order for faculty and staff to attend the “Day of Action” in Frankfort. School districts currently participating in the “Day of Action” include Pike, Lawrence, and Floyd counties to make their voices heard to legislators on issues of the budget and other educational bills. Floyd County Superintendent Steve Trimble said “this is a crucial time for teachers, staff and students because of the current budget proposals and other legislative bills which will have an effect on Floyd County Schools for many years to come.” He add they need to take this opportunity to stand up for the future of education for the students of Floyd County and across the state.
