Woman Arrested in Knox County After Allegedly Using Narcotics Around Children

On Friday, May 18, 2018, around 11:30am, Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith and Sgt. Carl Frith received a complaint of a female using narcotics in the company of three small children at the KCEOC building on US 25E in Gray. After arriving at the scene, Sheriff Smith and Sgt. Frith observed the female with three small children, the youngest approximately 6 months old. The female, identified as 27-year-old Ashley Nicole Derose of Lily, had a syringe in her possession. Derose was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and wanton endangerment. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. DCBS was contacted and the three children were released to a family member.
