Officials will hold a re-opening ceremony on Friday, May 25 at the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park Amphitheater. The amphitheater was closed in January 2018 due to safety concerns. Cabinet officials and local leaders immediately began collaborating on plans to rehabilitate the facility with the goal for repairs to be completed by the start of the production season. In April 2018, the Department of State Parks agreed to lease the amphitheater to the city of Prestonsburg for an initials term of five years, with an option to renew for two additional five-year terms. The re-opening ceremony featuring a ribbon cutting will be at 4pm Friday, May 25 at the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park  Amphitheater.
