Local singer Rachel Messer has advanced in competition on NBC’s The Voice. The Fort Gay, West Virginia native is a member of Billie Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry. In her blind audition, she performed “I Want to be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” which caught the attention of coaches Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton. Messer chose Shelton as her coach and will advance to further rounds of the series.
