According to a release on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, EnerBlu announced they are suspending plans to build a $300+ million battery cell manufacturing plant in Pikeville. In January, a primary potential investor cited a series of unexpected geopolitical factors that occurred in the final two months of 2018 as the reason for withdrawing support. Following the announcement, SOAR Executive Director Jared Arnett released a statement saying the transformation we desire will never be hinged on one single announcement and they are in search of new opportunities that will bring lasting change for the region.
