Inmate Inadvertently Released in Boyd County Back in Custody

On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, around 5:16am, inmate James Robert Brewer was inadvertently released from the Boyd County Detention Center. Brewer was in custody on charges of a bench warrant for credit card fraud, giving false indentifying information, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer. Brewer identified himself to a detention center employee as Todd Lesniak, who was scheduled to be released after serving time for credit card fraud and identity theft. Around 5:30am, the inadvertent release was discovered by jail personnel and law enforcement were contacted. Around 8:45am, Brewer was located hiding under a residence in the 500 block of Gartrell Street in Ashland. He was apprehended and charged with escape. An internal investigation is ongoing.
