Governor Matt Bevin is recognized the sacrifice of a Fort Campbell solider who died in Syria while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. According to the Department of Defense, 28-year-old PFC. Michael Thomason, from Lincoln Park, Michigan, died April 29, 2019, in Kobani Syria, of wounds sustained from a non-combat related incident. Pfc. Thomason was assigned to 2^nd Battalion, 327^th Infantry, 1^st Brigade Combat Team, 101^st Airborne Division Air Assault, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Service arrangements are pending. Governor Bevin will direct flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of Pfc. Thomason’s internment.
