A Winchester man has been convicted of threatening the government of Singapore. A federal jury has found 34-year-old Mikhy Farrera-Brochez guilty of two counts of sending threatening communications to the government of Singapore and its Ministry of Health. According to testimony, Farrera-Brochez obtained access to a database belonging to the Singaporean Ministry of Health that listed the private identifying and medical information of thousands of people in Singapore with HIB, including more than 50 US citizens. He sent the information to his mother in Kentucky, then retrieved it upon his return. He emailed this information to the Government of Singapore with a list of demands on January 22, 2019, with a follow up email sent on February 18, 2019. He faces up to 2 years in prison on each county of threatening communications and up to 5 years for possessing and transferring the identity information.
