Volunteers manned the phones over the weekend at the 9th annual Veterans Referral Center’s telethon. The Johnson County center helps veterans obtain benefits, and Paintsville Mayor Bob Porter said it’s the only one like it in the United States. The centers telethon is the only time it raises money throughout the year, and goes towards covering the centers bills. Veterans needing assistance can contact the center at 606-789-7587.
